Not All Who Stay, Care
They say childhood is like a garden and the people in it are like flowers that we believe will always bloom. But time changes gardens. Some flowers were never meant to stay; they were only ever petals scattered by the wind..
Some truths onlyreveal themselves once we grow up. As children, we see love in its purest form — trusting every smile, every hug, every gesture as it’s genuine. But as we grow older, we learn that not every act of love is real. Some people are only pretending, and realizing this can be one of the most painful lessons of growing up.
When we are children, love seems simple. The people who smile at us, hold us close, and stay near are the ones we believe truly care about us. some people in our lives during childhood are like this; like they are always around to play, to guide, to make us feel like we belong. And because we are young, we never question and somehow end up trusting their love blindly.
But time has a way of showing us truths we could never see as children.Much of what we thought was love was only an act — a performance meant to keep us from ever doubting them. Their affection was convenient, their kindness carefully placed, their presence only temporary.
Just as Conan Gray says in his song “Actor”
“Let’s pretend nothing happened, I agree But you’re a much better actor than me.”
The pain of realizing this feels like discovering that your favorite childhood lullaby was sung without meaning only melody. What we once thought was love, we now see as a game of play-pretend. And most importantly, it reminds us that family is not defined by blood alone. Family is defined by those who stay, those who care without conditions, those who don’t need to wear a mask to prove their love.
So yes — it hurts to look back and realize some people were only pretending. But it also sets us kinda free, i guess. Free to see love clearly. Free to build bonds that are real.
But sometimes we wish that what if there was something that could erase all those memories, but somehow we are stucked with all those memories deep inside our head.
